Violinist Chee-Yun's flawless technique, dazzling tone, and compelling artistry have enraptured audiences on five continents. Charming, charismatic, and deeply passionate about her art, Chee-Yun continues to carve a unique place for herself in the ever-evolving world of classical music.
A winner of the Young Concert Artists International Auditions and a recipient of the Avery Fisher Career Grant, Chee-Yun has performed with many of the world's foremost orchestras and conductors. She has appeared with the San Francisco, Toronto, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Atlanta, and National symphony orchestras, as well as with the Saint Paul and Los Angeles Chamber Orchestras. As a recitalist, Chee-Yun has performed in many major U.S. cities, including New York, Chicago, Washington, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Atlanta. In 2016, Chee-Yun performed as a guest artist for the Secretary General at the United Nations in celebration of Korea's National Foundation Day and the 25th anniversary of South Korea joining the UN. In 1993, Chee-Yun performed at the White House for President Bill Clinton and guests at an event honoring recipients of the National Medal of the Arts. Recent highlights include her appearance with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, as well as her collaboration with acclaimed guitarist Mak Grgić.

Heralded as “one of the great leading cellists of the classical stage” by the Wall Street Journal, Wendy Sutter has proven herself as one of the foremost and diverse soloists of her generation. Having performed widely on five continents, she has been acclaimed by critics in all major publications including The New York Times, Strad Magazine, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and the The San Francisco Chronicle.
Ms. Sutter has appeared frequently as soloist with such orchestras as The Dallas Symphony, The Seattle Symphony, The Colorado Symphony, The Hong Kong Philharmonic, The Brussels Philharmonic, The Shanghai Symphony, The Shenzhen Symphony, The Royal Residentie Orchestra of the Hague, The Tucson Symphony, The Northern Netherlands Orchestra, The Juilliard Symphony, The Cabrillo Festival Orchestra, The La Jolla Symphony. She toured as soloist with The Youth Orchestra of the Americas and The Shanghai Symphony throughout China, South America and The United States of America. As soloist, she has served under many esteemed conductors, including Jaap Van Zweden, Marin Alsop, Gerard Schwarz, Dante Anziolini, Mikhail Jurowski, Michel Tabachnik and Tan Dun.

This year we decided to split our festival into two seasons; summer and fall. We felt this would give our audience an opportunity to enjoy the music in a more leisurely fashion without having to commit to an entire weekend.
We would like to announce that we are bringing back classical music to the Hickory Nut Gorge on October 7th, 2023. We will produce a wonderful evening of chamber music in the style of a "Salon Musique" where you will experience the finest musicianship in an intimate setting. The musicians , Chee-Yun, violin and Wendy Sutter, cello, will not only play, but be in conversation with you as they speak to the inspiration of the music and how they approach playing it. You will get to meet and spend time with some of the finest musicians working in classical music the world over. Right here in Lake Lure!
